Grand Marshals 2016 - Present
2016 & 2017 Grand Marshal
Toby, a 13-year-old Australian Shepherd, is Foothills Animal Shelter’s official Mascot and the inspiration behind Toby’s Pet Parade & Fair.
In April of 2015, Toby, was brought to the Shelter after being found running on the streets of Westminster. The then 10-year-old’s muzzle was taped shut and he was malnourished and dehydrated. He was placed in a foster home and spent a lot time in the admin office for extra love and attention. After several months in foster care, Toby was adopted and made the official Mascot of Foothills Animal Shelter!
This remarkable dog and his heartwarming success story are an inspiring example of the life-saving work done every day at Foothills Animal Shelter. To honor Toby, the Shelter created Toby’s Pet Parade & Fair as a fun-filled community event to raise funds to support and care for homeless pets like him.
2018 Grand Marshal
Layla Mae, a 3-year-old American Pit Bull mix, came to Foothills Animal Shelter in late January after she was found tied to a tree in a Lakewood park with another dog. She was missing much of her hair and it was clear that she had recently given birth.
Foothills Animal Shelter staff worked to restore the health of Layla and her companion, and soon both were ready to be adopted. Fortunately for Layla Mae, her doting mom, Brooke, snatched her up the day she became available!
Layla Mae is the 2018 Grand Marshal because she embodies the spirit of Toby: abandoned and found by amazing community members and given a second chance at a life that all animals deserve. Learn more and follow Layla Mae on Instagram at
